AEC Education: AI & Transportation

Join our Architects, Engineers, and Construction (AEC) Network for an engaging deeper dive on AI & Transportation throughout Noblesville and the State of Indiana.

Our guest speaker, Darcy Bullock is the Lyles Family Professor of Civil and Construction Engineering at Purdue University and serves as the director of the Joint Transportation Research Program (JTRP). Bullock is a Registered Professional Engineer in Indiana and has over 35 years of experience working closely with academia, transportation agencies, and private sector partners in the area of transportation systems and big data analytics.
In 2005, the first instrumented intersection in the United States was installed at SR 32/37 in Noblesville. Now 20 years later, your vehicles often know more about road infrastructure than agencies do. In fact, Purdue University ingests 17 billion records per month from one in every 20 vehicles travelling in Indiana to proactively identify congestion, pavement deterioration, hard braking, and most recently to identify damaged roadway infrastructure such as signs and guardrails. This talk will discuss the data curation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) activities of Purdue with case studies drawn from the greater Noblesville area.
Light refreshments will be provided.
