IMCU PARTNERS WITH INDY BACKPACK ATTACK FOR PUBLIC BACKPACK DISTRIBUTION EVENT

Indiana Members Credit Union (IMCU) has partnered with Indy BackPack Attack again this year, and is hosting a public distribution of 5,000 backpacks filled with school supplies on Saturday, July 26, 2014. The distributions will take place at IMCU's College Park branch, Baxter YMCA, Ransburg YMCA and Arsenal Technical High School beginning at 1:30 pm until supplies last. To receive a backpack, children must be present and accompanied by their parent or guardian.

Backpacks will be disbursed to children at the following select locations, one per child, while supplies last:

• Arsenal Technical High School- Drive Thru Distribution- 1500 East Michigan Street, Indianapolis, IN 46201- 2,000 Backpacks;

• IMCU College Park Branch- Park and Walk Up Distribution- Tickets will be distributed- 8910 Wesleyan Road, Indianapolis, IN 46268- 1,000 Backpacks;

• Baxter YMCA- Walk Up Distribution- Tickets will be distributed- 7900 S Shelby Street, Indianapolis, IN 46227- 1,000 Backpacks;

• Ransburg YMCA- Drive Thru Distribution 501 N Shortridge Road, Indianapolis, IN 46219- 1,000 Backpacks. 

As of July 2014, Indiana Members Credit Union and Foundation, along with extremely generous members, have raised enough funds for their school supply campaign to provide a total of 4,000 backpacks and school supplies to underserved children. This total is a result of selling candy at their Central Indiana Branches, as well as donations from their annual "Bowl-A-Thon" employee fundraising event, the Indiana Members Foundation Golf Outing, and their annual IMCU Yard Sale. To date, enough funds have been raised for IMCU to donate more than 80,000 supplies.

Everyone at IMCU including employees, board members, vendors and membership have gone above and beyond to assist in fundraising efforts to support our Foundation so we are able to once again provide our youth with the essential school supplies needed to begin their school year. I'm so proud of those associated with IMCU that continually support these worthwhile efforts." 

All 25 IMCU branches in Central Indiana served as public collection sites for the school supply drive, with bins in their branch lobbies during branch hours, June 23rd through July 18th. It's reported that 80% percent of the families in the Indianapolis Public Schools district (IPS) need help with basic school supplies. IMCU has partnered with programs in Marion and surrounding counties to provide underprivileged children the supplies they need to start the school year. The programs include Indy BackPack Attack, Beech Grove Schools, Hendricks County BackPack Attack, Johnson County FastTrack Program, Carmel Clay Township Trustee, Noblesville Trustee, Muncie Mission, Marion Get on the Bus, Westfield "Open Doors Project" and Zionsville United Way of Central Indiana Boone County.
